Cantilena Term 2 Performances

Term Two has been a very busy term in the Choral calendar with many choirs entered in the Armidale Eisteddfod, several choral workshops being hosted and a number of community events for our choirs and staff.

Cantilena was asked to perform ‘Gostwyck’ by Luke Byrne for the ANZAC Day Memorial Service at the Dangarsleigh Memorial. They sang really well and added to the formality of the occasion.

Cantilena and Cantilena Chorale did exceptionally well in their sections of the Eisteddfod, with Cantilena winning the Unison section with The Owl by Richard Rodney Bennet and Mosquitoes by Wendy Ireland, and placing equal second in the Two-Part event with Jabberwocky by Carolyn Jennings and Gostwyck by Luke Byrne. Cantilena Chorale also won the Junior Vocal Ensemble section with Dona Nobis Pacem by Mozart and Pegasus by Dan Walker. I am incredibly proud of these two choirs and the students who worked so hard for these results with some very difficult repertoire; they sang beautifully and with such energy on the day.
