On Friday 23rd March, the New England Singers enjoyed an intensive workshop with one of Australia’s leading choral conductors Carol Crossin. Many of our choristers were already familiar with Carl as he is the conductor of the Gondwana Chorale at National Choral School each year. He is currently Associate Professor of Music and Head of Voice, Opera, Conducting & Ensembles at the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music where he also teaches Conducting, conducts the Elder Conservatorium Chorale and Bella Voce. Carl worked intensively on developing the choral sound and polishing works for the concert with Fiori Musicali on the same weekend. Our student conductor for 2018, Jonathan Bruhl, also had to the opportunity to workshop his conducting skills – a fabulous opportunity for this young gifted conductor.
