New England Sings! Postponed until 2021
NEW ENGLAND SINGS! can now go ahead!
Great news as New England Sings! can go ahead in 2021 as NECOM has just secured a government grant of $10,000 from Destination NSW to help support delivery of our flagship choral project. As the largest choral event in regional Australia, New England Sings! involves over 850 regional school students, teachers and musicians and will bring 1000+ audiences to Armidale for the concerts. This is very heartening news after we had to make the heartbreaking decision to cancel the event in October this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. It allows us to look to the future to present this important event and no one will miss out. A new date is presently being negotiated so watch this space for the announcement.
Sunday 18 October, Concert 1@11am; Concert email@example.com
New England Sings! is NECOM’s acclaimed, national award-winning choral showcase that brings together over 800 K-Year 12 choristers from 28+ schools across the New England and an 80+ community orchestra to present two sensational concerts on Sunday 18 October at 11am and 2.30pm.
The concerts celebrate the love of singing and Australian choral music, in addition to premiering commissioned works written specially for the Combined Primary Schools Choirs, the Combined Secondary Choir and Orchestra and for the first time, the Side-by-Side Choir. Many Australian composers and songs are featured, from new commissions by Luke Byrne and Justin Clarke to John Farnham’s classic Australian rock anthem ‘You’re The Voice’, complete with bagpipes!
New England Sings! is an unmissable musical event, a testimony to the New England’s unique music education community and commitment by schools to make music a part of every student’s life.
