With assistance from the NSW Department of Education (DoE), NECOM is able to provide the invaluable service of hire instruments. This gives families and students the opportunity to learn a musical instrument when the initial cost of buying an instrument is prohibitive.
Instruments can be hired to students enrolled in NECOM programs, students learning with Music Educators and to external students.
Hire requirements
Hirers must take care and responsibility for their hire instrument.
There is a term-based hire fee and an initial bond required (Bond will be returned at end of hire period).
Fees – Internal – Students of NECOM and Music Educator Members
$170 Bond | Bond for violins / violas |
$220 Bond | Bond for cellos, double bass, brass, woodwinds |
$80 per term | Hire fee each term for violins / violas |
$100 per term | Hire fee each term for cellos, double bass, brass & woodwind |
Fees – External Students (non-NECOM students)
$250 Bond | Bond for violins / violas |
$300 Bond | Bond for cellos, double bass, brass & woodwind |
$180 per term | Hire fee each term for violins / violas |
$230 per term | Hire fee each term for cellos, double bass, brass & woodwind |
It is recommended hirers organise insurance of the instrument for all risks and damages. In most cases, these can be included as an item on household insurance policies. Where the instrument is above a certain amount, specialist insurance companies may need to be approached.
