HSC Performance Workshops

On Thursday 12 March, NECOM and AMTA (Armidale Music Teachers Association) presented two workshops for Year 12 music students preparing for their HSC performance assessments and exam in September this year.

The Music 1 Performance Workshop was presented by Bruce Myers (Armidale Secondary College) and accompanist Warwick Dunham while the Music 2 and Extension Performance Workshop was presented by Corinne Arter, Stuart Pavel and accompanist Robyn Bradley.

Each workshop started with a summary of the HSC exam marking guidelines, what examiners would be looking for in a performance and useful tips to help students’ preparation. Students then had an opportunity to perform their works-in-progress and to receive feedback from presenters.

Feedback from Corinne Arter, NECOM Program Manager,

‘I was really pleased to see how well prepared the students were even at this early stage in the year. Students, their class and individual teachers have made very good choices in repertoire that suit each individual students strengths so they are to be congratulated on this’.
