SNEAK PREVIEW 2021 CONCERTS
After a year of covid restrictions and cancellation of concerts, NECOM and Musica Viva Armidale plan to present an unforgettable series of concerts in 2021 – depending on the continuation of easing restrictions for covid safety. Audiences will finally hear live music again from Australia's most outstanding musicians.
Australian Chamber Orchestra w Richard Tognetti – Tuesday 20 April
Opera Australia’s Carmen – Thursday 20 May
Ensemble Liaison – Thursday 5 August
Lior & Westlake Compassion – Friday 3 September
New England Sings! – 17 October, 11am & 2.30pm
Our draft program is in the pipeline and promises to showcase Australia’s greatest ensembles, musicians and composers, including our own choral spectacular New England Sings! These will be once-only opportunities to hear these creative artists in our own hometown.
The NSW government’s recent easing of restrictions to concerts halls now allows 75% capacity for ticketed and seated audiences to attend live music concerts! What a welcome decision as 2020 has seen the collapse of live concerts and devastation of the performing arts industry.
It allows NECOM to be optimistic for the future. We aim to support Australia’s musicians and organisations during the recovery year ahead and have negotiated to present an increased and sensational concert program in 2021 if covid-restrictions continue to ease.
At this stage venues and contracts are still to be confirmed and depend on the eased covid restrictions remaining in place. NECOM will open the box office in early February so watch this space for updates.
