Each week the keen and talented 15 yr old violinist Rose Light, travels a 5-hour round trip from Coffs Harbour to Armidale for lessons with NECOM’s Head of Strings Joanna Fairs-Wu.
Rose, who last year was awarded a High Distinction for her Associate of Music (AMusA), says "It's been wonderful learning under Joanna as I study for my LMusA and I am very grateful to NECOM for being so welcoming. I love my lessons and the drive with Mum to Armidale each week.”
Rose has an exciting second half of 2020, having been selected from a vigorous audition process for the Australian Chamber Orchestra Academy and the ACO Chamber Music Weekend 2020 held in Sydney as well as the Australian Honours Ensemble Programme held in Brisbane. Rose will share any recordings that she can for all to enjoy on her Facebook Page "Rose Light Violinist".
Rose says "I am so enjoying the process of studying for my LMusA. It takes hard work and dedication to play the repertoire to a concert standard which honours the composers. I would like to thank all the people who have supported me. I look forward to performing for everyone again when concert halls reopen."
