UNE Colleges Music Program

The UNE Colleges Music Program has started back up recently under the watchful eye of Andrea Gledhill, head of Austin College. This year we have Vocal, String, Recorder and Wind Ensembles. Deidre Rickards is the director of the Vocal ensemble that rehearses every Tuesday evening at 6pm in the upstairs common room at Austin College. I’m pleased to again be involved as director of the UNE String ensemble and I’m happy to report several new members in the string section. The String Ensemble rehearsal is at Austin College from 7:15-8:15pm on Tuesdays. The repertoire of each ensemble is broad and is aimed to encourage development of your instrumental skills at a tertiary level.

If you are a UNE student in the residential colleges or even living within the Armidale community, please feel free to come along and sing or play your instrument in one of these diverse and enjoyable ensembles. As always, we plan to host a concert in September at Lazenby Hall to promote the talent that comes from the many students who enrol at UNE colleges who make up these ensembles.

Rosin your bow, carve some reeds, warm up those lungs and come join us!

Upcoming UNE ensemble performance dates:

Austin College Senior Common room ; 6.00pm-7.00pm Tuesday 28th May

Lazenby Hall; 6.00-7.00pm Thursday 26th September

Hope to meet you with your instrument

Robert Jackson
