Preparations for the New England Sings! event are underway in earnest. Last week the first of the Primary choir mass rehearsals were held with composer Dan Walker leading the choirs through the commissioned work, Fire and Light. We were so impressed with how well the children sang and worked hard to master some of the tricky parts.
Auditions were held for the Primary solo parts in How Can I Keep from Singing and there were so many outstanding students to choose from! Congratulations to the following students who were selected to perform a solo part: Beth Arandale, Amber Hahn and Lukas Ott (all from St. Joseph’s Glen Innes) for the 11:00am concert; and Matilda Eisenhower (PLC, Armidale), Mia Lincoln (St. Mary’s Armidale) and Scarlett Loxley (PLC, Armidale) for the 2:30pm concert.
The rehearsals for the outreach schools have also commenced and our team of Stuart Pavel and Deidre Rickards have already presented workshops in Ross Hill PS (Inverell), St. Patrick’s School (Walcha) and Carinya Christian School (Tamworth).
Secondary schools have commenced rehearsals in their own schools and will come together on Friday 24 August for their first combined rehearsal.
