The Australian Voices vocal ensemble began their Red Live Breath tour in Armidale on 25 November, presenting a program of Australian works, sacred classical music and Christmas songs.
The New England Singers were invited to participate in a workshop preceding the concert with The Australian Voices to prepare a piece to sing with the ensemble in the concert.
New England Singers member, Erin Page, took part in the workshop and concert:
“Completing a workshop with ‘The Australian Voices’ was a great opportunity for many people in New England Singers to learn what it feels like to perform with a professional choir and gain some valuable experience. The performance in the St Peter’s Cathedral was of a very high quality that could be likened to Gondwana Chorale. I personally enjoyed watching the conductor of the choir, Gordon Hamilton as he conducted very enthusiastically and with great precision. I would like to thank ‘Australian Voices’ for coming to Armidale and allowing the New England Singers to experience such a fantastic choir.”
We are very grateful to The Australian Voices for the opportunity given to our Armidale choristers.
