Following on from the award we received last month from the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB), we can report that NECOM was one of only two NSW Conservatoriums to be bestowed this certificate for “Most Outstanding Studio or Music School, Preliminary to Grade 6”. Aside from the New England Conservatorium, the Macquarie Conservatorium in Dubbo is to be congratulated.
Given that there are 17 Regional Conservatoriums in the state, this is an outstanding achievement. When you consider that NECOM received a similar award from the AMEB only two years before, it shows that there exists a tradition of excellence in this region which is testament to the planning of Corinne Arter (Program Manager), and the preparation of our dedicated studio teachers April Kelson, Joanna Fairs-Wu, Kristal Spreadborough, Laura Curotta, Rob Jackson, Louisa Sindel-Marshall and Paul Marshall. Ultimately, of course, an award like this requires perseverance and tenacity from our students to never settle for “good” when “great” can be achieved, so to our students (and their ever-supportive parents) we say congratulations!
