Heritage Homestead Series 2022 – Mirani

October 30, 2022 @ 3:00 pm

$75.00

On Sunday 30 October, the 1927 Mirani Homestead will host a vibrant young quartet of Eliza Scott (violin), James McKay (flute), Robert van Gend (viola) and Charlotte Low (cello), excited to be performing together as musicians and friends. Curated in the spirit of an 1800’s parlour concert, this concert features music of the Classical and early Romantic eras, with works by Mozart, Walckiers and Hoffmeister.

Mirani, a short drive north of Walcha, was established in 1927 by AS ‘Poss’ and Nancy Nivison. The grandson of Abraham and Mary Nivison of ‘Ohio’, ‘Poss’ travelled internationally to research
innovative methods for stock and pasture improvement. Nancy was active in the community with Red Cross, Horticultural and Historical Society activities.

In 1950, a Tiger Moth spread superphosphate over Mirani, the first aerial drop in Australia. That Tiger Moth now resides with the Historical Society which Nancy helped to establish in 1962. Today Mirani continues as a private home, still owned by the Nivison family.
