Introducing our new string teacher Jhana Allan

Originally hailing from Armidale, Jhana Allan studied a Bachelor of Music at the University of Tasmania, learning from TSO concert master Jun Yi Ma. She then went on to study Honours at Melbourne Conservatorium with Sarah Curro. She has played with the Australian Youth Orchestra, the ANAM Orchestra, the Tasmanian Discovery Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, and the Melbourne Metropolitan Sinfonietta.

Jhana has a rich background in folk music, playing in bands around Melbourne ranging from gypsy to trad jazz, country and folk. Jhana teaches AMEB, Suzuki and various different folk styles. She believes in incorporating improvisation into her teaching methods at every level in order to encourage her students to engage in this playful form of creative expression.
