NECOM’s first Head of Contemporary Music – Sharny Russell

NECOM is excited to announce our new Head of Contemporary Music, Sharny Russell.   Sharny brings her extensive musical experience as a pianist, vocalist, composer, educator and producer to Armidale.  Sharny is known and respected throughout the Australian music industry as a jazz vocalist, pianist and educator.

With an APRA award, Australian Songwriting Competition Award and numerous recordings to her name, she has also shared the stage with James Morrison, George Golla, Emma Pask, The Idea of North, Darren Percival and Grace Knight.

Commencing in Term 2, this new role will lead NECOM’s expanding contemporary music programs, establishing and developing initiatives and partnerships with schools and community to extend engagement in various projects and events.

Please make Sharny welcome and we look forward to some exciting developments in the Armidale music scene this year.
