NECOM Parent Portal FAQs

We’ve rolled out NECOM’s Student/Parent Portal (using MyMusicStaff) and it’s been a raging success! Teachers love it, Parents love it, Students love it, and the admin staff even love it too!

But that doesn’t mean you don’t have questions!

This page is dedicated to answering Parent’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). So, if you can’t find an answer to your question, or if you are having issues, please don’t hesitate to contact our dedicated support email on mmshelpdesk@necom.org.au or call Nicky on (02) 6788 2135.

How do I login to My Music Staff?

There is a good chance that you have an email hiding in your inbox from admin@necom.org.au with the subject line: “NECOM My Music Staff Access | Parent Portal Login Information”

This email contains a link to setup your password, and a login link: https://app.mymusicstaff.com?Mode=Student

If you can’t find the email, contact us at the above email, and we can get it resent to you, quick smart.

Multiple parents can have access to the portal for a single student, we just need to setup your profile with a separate email address.

Where do I find teacher lesson notes?

If your teacher has completed lesson notes, you can find them on your home page, or by navigating to the menu on the left, and scrolling to Attendance & Notes.

Once you’re there look for the little notes icon on the right-hand side. This is also where you’ll find any attachments your teacher has included.

How do I cancel my child’s lesson?

From your home page, click the “Cancel Lesson” button for the lesson event you wish to cancel. You can also go to the Calendar page from the menu on the left and cancel a lesson by clicking “Cancel Lesson”.

Please note that as per our policy, we allow for 2 makeup lessons per term due to scheduled absence or illness. My Music Staff recognises when you cancel a lesson with more than 48-hours notice, and gives you a make-up credit (this will appear on your Parent Portal dashboard).

How do I book a make-up lesson?

Using your makeup credit(s), you can book a make-up lesson through your parent portal. Your child’s teacher will have specific makeup lesson slots on their calendars for you to book, or you can communicate with them to find an appropriate time.

From the menu on the left, select Calendar.

We’d recommend clicking ‘search’ on the right of the screen and ticking the “show only make-up events” box. This will help you quickly spot make-up lesson slots.

How do I pay an invoice from the parent portal?

You can see any outstanding invoices on your home page. Look for the tile on the right that has the outstanding invoice amount and click the text “Click here to pay”.

From there it is as simple as putting in your payment method details and clicking the “Pay Now” button. Please note that partial payments are accepted as well.

Also, we encourage you to click “Save this payment method for future use”, and “Automatically pay emailed invoices”.

This means that when your  invoices are emailed out, My Music Staff will automatically pay the invoice and email you the receipt. It’s hassle-free, and you make sure you get the early bird discount every time!

You can also access your invoices from the “Account and Invoice” tab from the left hand menu.

The My Music Staff uses Stripe as a payment processor. Stripe is widely recognised as one of the most secure online payment methods in the world. Even when you save a payment method (Credit Card) for later use, your details are encrypted and never held by NECOM, or My Music Staff. Good news! This is the safest approach we can take to making online payment easy, safe and secure.

How do I store my payment method for automatic payments of future invoices?

As per the instructions above, you can save your payment method as you pay an invoice.
You can also “Manage Payment Methods” from the “Account and Invoice” tab from the left-hand menu.
Finally, if you click your name in the top right of the screen, and click profile settings, you’ll notice you can “Manage Payment Methods” on the left-hand side.
