Paul Marshall

Paul Marshall is currently Head of Wind, Brass & Percussion, a conductor and composer at the New England Conservatorium of Music.  He studied saxophone performance at the Sydney Conservatorium, before running the Sindel-Marshall Music Studio in Sydney with his wife, Louisa, for 15 years before moving to Armidale at the start of 2016. He teaches wind and brass and conducts several ensembles including the Armidale Youth Orchestra.  Paul also composes works for student and professional musicians, writing music in a variety of styles including jazz and classical.  Many of his works are included in the Australian Music Examinations Board syllabus for saxophone, clarinet & cello.  In 2009 Paul’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra was performed by the Beecroft Orchestra with his wife Louisa as the saxophone soloist.  In 2018, Paul was commissioned by the Armidale Youth Orchestra to compose a celebratory 50th anniversary piece. The Armidale Symphony Orchestra has recently performed his orchestral pieces, Landscapes and Gara Gorge. His most recent composition, “Cloud Dance” will receive its World Premiere at the 2022 New England Sings!
