Working With Backtrack

NECOM has been exploring avenues for offering programs to Backtrack from 2019, with Music Therapist Fumie Takahashi demonstrating the versatility of instruments like guitar, ukulele, percussion, steel drums and (of course) the voice. Francesca from Backtrack has joined forces with Fumie to develop ideas for a possible weekly music class in the new year, and both organisations are excited about what this could mean in terms of student involvement at Backtrack. Elsewhere in this newsletter you can read about the excellent performance given by the “Chamber Music in Schools” project at Backtrack recently, showcasing another side of music performance and appreciation that many of the students had never encountered before.

Francesca from Backtrack told us that the recent visit from the Chamber Trio was “A wonderful experience as expressed by all attending. Thank you for sharing such beautiful music and live playing with us”. Kanaya, a young student at Backtrack, was chosen to be page-turner, and she commented that this opportunity was “Wonderful – I loved it!”

NECOM joins with the rest of the Armidale community in congratulating the team at Backtrack on their many successes this year, particularly in the recent NSW Business Chamber Awards.
