2017 Junior Orchestra Workshop
June 28, 2017 - June 29, 2017
$90 – $120The New England Conservatorium’s annual Junior Orchestra Workshop gives students an intensive two days of invaluable performance experience playing in a large ensemble under the leadership of conductor and music education specialist Ann Phelan and 12 NECOM musicians and guest tutors.The Workshop is open to students in Years 3-9 who can read music and have at least 6 months experience playing one of the following instruments:
Strings Violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp
Winds Flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone
Brass Trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba
Percussion Orchestral percussion (interested pianists may apply)
NB. There is a strict limit of 5 percussionists.
Fee $99 for 2-day workshop OR Early Bird Discount $90 if payment made by 5:00pm Friday 19 June
Bursaries for financial assistance are available (contact NECOM for an application form).
This rewarding 2-day workshop will allow students to develop their instrumental technique and ensemble skills while having a great time with like-minded musical friends.

Bring Your instrument, pencil and spare reeds/strings if applicable
Dress Warm casual clothes (no uniforms)
Lunch Students must bring their lunch both days

SUPERVISION
NECOM provides supervision of students during course times only. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure the safe and punctual delivery and pickup of their child outside course times. NECOM invites parents to volunteer to supervise during breaks.
ENROLMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS
Withdrawal in writing
Withdrawals received in writing before Fri 10 June will receive a refund (an administration fee of $25 will apply). Withdrawals made after that date are ineligible for a refund. Withdrawals due to serious illness may receive a refund if a medical certificate is provided.
Code of Conduct
The student will uphold the following code of conduct:
• be respectful and friendly to everyone and welcome new students joining the group
• play by the rules
• participate in all activities
• report any concerns or worries
The student will not:
• be a bully
• leave the group without telling an adult
• interfere with any other student’s learning
